Groningen, the dutch city that has implemented 6,000 intelligent trash dumpsters.
This containers work with high yield battery with a five years autonomy. If you want to use it you need your ID card.
Under the ground, the machine starts to classify the trash from recyclable materials. Then, the machine says what have to pay depending on how much kg want to throw away.
And…why? Authorities focused on two points. One is finish with dumpsters stolen. The other is prevent people throw their trash in the neighboring container to avoid paying the tax of garbage.
Before year-end companies promoting this initiative (Mic-O-Data and Vodafone) will install this dumpsters in 25 other Dutch municipalities.
