A Civil Action, 1998
Film based on the book by Jonathan Harr (1996), a true story: the case of Woburn, Massachusetts, in the 1980s.
The social alarm is triggered after several cases of a relatively rare disease, leukemia in the same zone. After several investigations, evidence are obtained: contamination of the town’s water supply with TCE (trichloroetilen) by several companies.
A report by the Environmental Protection Agency provided new evidence and concluded that companies had contaminated the wells from the sludge they had been removed from the site.
A film that shows the importance of Ecology (water treatment, Ecotoxicology …) and the associated legal processes.
